Securing Employment in Financial Services
Summit Academy OIC unveils its groundbreaking Financial Services training this month to address a stark employment gap for residents and meet talent needs in Minnesota’s financial sector.
Designed alongside leaders in local financial institutions, this 20-week training will provide a fast track to entry-level roles in customer service, insurance, banking, mortgage or title companies, or other financial institutions. Students will learn real-world skills, gain an industry-certified credential through preparation for the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam, and grow their network.
Made possible through gifts to the Scaling Up for Greater Impact campaign, this key training will benefit our community by introducing deeper knowledge in financial matters and training employees for the financial services industry so that they can serve as role models.
DID YOU KNOW:
“Since 2019, Ameriprise has partnered with Summit Academy OIC to share career possibilities with students from the IT Technical Support and Cybersecurity programs. Former Summit students whom we have hired continue to show a passion for learning and development. We look forward to expanding this partnership with the new Financial Services program as we anticipate student readiness for many other entry level roles.”

Scaling Up for Greater Impact
Thanks to you, Summit is almost to the finish line of a substantial funding injection that will help launch more graduates into life-sustaining careers earning $40,000 or more with opportunities for career advancement.
The Scaling Up for Greater Impact campaign is helping Summit prepare to invest in expanded in-person and online training programs including Financial Services to meet market demand. The investment will also build the Student Support Fund to help remove barriers to program completion. And it will help cultivate career pathway interest among North Minneapolis youth, with an aim to foster a pipeline of young adults into a growing number of STEM careers.
“The jobs are waiting,” says President & CEO Leroy West. “We’re ready to mobilize and strengthen our programs, make connections, and serve as a conduit to communities where people are looking for a path to a better future for themselves and their families.”
So far, we’ve raised $11,996,325 of our $13 million target, with a goal of raising the remainder of the funds by June 2024.
This campaign underscores Summit Academy's commitment to empowering future leaders and fostering greater change in the community.
A special thank you to our Campaign Co-Chairs Barbara Forster and Larry Hendrickson!
