Do you have to wait weeks—or months—before you can get in for a dental appointment? Dental practices across Minnesota are struggling to find qualified talent and that is directly impacting their ability to serve patients. You could be part of the solution!

Our new, 20-week Unlicensed Dental Assistant training launches this fall. Students will learn industry-informed skills and connect with local employers–all at no cost to them.

An Unlicensed Dental Assistant supports dentists and other dental staff in providing quality care to patients. They can assist with placing and removing tools, devices, and topical medication under the supervision of the dentist during a patient visit. Assistants can also sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment. In the front office, unlicensed dental assistants can help complete registrations and basic coding and insurance applications, including updating dental records.

It’s a great way to break into the dental industry without committing to a full, licensed program right away.

Like our other career trainings, Unlicensed Dental Assistant students will receive career placement assistance from our Workforce Solutions team. Summit supports all students in building their resume and cover letter, participating in mock interviews with real employers, and connecting with employers during hiring fairs on campus.

After graduating this training, students could go on to pursue further education, training, or certifications to seek careers as sterilization technicians and/or lab technicians.
