King’s comprehensive HR background includes linking strategy to talent management, organizational culture, and driving professional development. His focus has always been on the people in an organization which will be a huge benefit for Summit as we continue to invest in people and build an organization culture that meets the mission of Opportunities Industrialization Centers (OICs) born out of the civil rights movement.

“Raazon’s high caliber of leadership and empathy will drive impact and create a lasting culture within the walls of Summit. Raazon is the person to both keep us grounded in our roots and move us forward into the future. I’m thrilled to have Raazon join Team Summit,” said Leroy West, President and CEO.

“I believe Human Resources is part of the foundation impacting any organization’s functionality, effectiveness and efficiency. Human Resources is so much more than compliance, law, and process but a focus on people and the employee life cycle to start. I look forward to serving and collaborating with the Summit Academy Team and through that impacting the community Summit serves,” said Raazon King, Senior Director of Human Resources.

Most recently, King has worked as a Senior HR leader for Thomson Reuters where he provided HR support and helped shape HR strategy for the North American Customer Support Function and their Digital Team.  He also served as a trusted advisor and coach to senior leadership in developing strategic HR solutions for both business and talent.

King has also held top HR roles at Travelers Insurance Midwest Region and Dollar Tree Corporation Midwest Region. In those roles, King strengthened change management initiatives, improved organizational effectiveness, and used metrics to drive business results.

King holds a Master of Science degree in Administration—Leadership and Organizational Development from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Communications from Ashland University in Ashland, OH.
