How did you hear about Summit?
And old friend had told me about the school and how they get hands on training. I choose to enroll Summit Academy because I wanted to build and learn new skill sets to use in my everyday life.

What was your career path prior to attending Summit?
Before coming to Summit, I was in community college full time and working two part-time jobs. It was so stressful and i felt really stuck. Between both jobs I was working about 35 hours a week, plus being in school for about 7 hours each day.

What do you feel are the most important skills you learned at Summit?
One skill that I thought is important that I have learned at Summit is teamwork. Teamwork is important because we learn from each other’s point of views.

What is your career goal?
My career goal is to own my own business flipping houses.

What advice do you have for those interested in programs at Summit?
My advice to anyone that is interest in this program is to have fun and laugh at your mistakes, because nothing is perfect the first time. But the first time you try, is a lesson for perfection.

What did you like most about attending Summit?
One thing I really liked about Summit is that everyone around is really friendly, generous and extremely helpful!

How did attending Summit make you feel?
Before coming to Summit, I was nervous to learn new skills that I didn’t know. But being at Summit in-person, doing the training, and getting my hands dirty made me realize that hard labor is fun. Now  I feel like I accomplished more in Summit in just 20 weeks than I have during all of grade school and my two years of college.

Anything else you’d like to share with us?
Being a person of color and a woman joining a (mostly) Caucasian male world, it feels like a bigger accomplishment that I did not think I ever had the power to do! Now being in the field I have broken through biases and stereotypes! Now I’m not afraid to do what I love.
