Why do you want your GED?

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that if you don’t have your GED already and you are reading this… then you’re probably ready to get your GED! There are so many reasons why you may want to get your GED. Here’s a list of why that we have compiled over time from our students:

  • Family
  • Better Job
  • Myself
  • Role Model
  • Not another statistic
  • College
  • Helping the community

Do any of those sound familiar? If so, then maybe it is time to get your GED. Of course, things are always easier said than done. Rest assured that getting your GED is definitely possible and Summit Academy will help you get there.

The Barriers

Wanting your GED and getting your GED are two very different things and we realize that. Whether you have a lack of transportation, medical reasons, or just a lack of resources, we get it. Whatever the reason is, Summit can assist you. Recent GED graduate Sheena Feather can attest to this below.

Money Talks

Let’s talk about the most obvious reason why people get a GED: money. Below is the harsh reality of NOT having a GED and how that impacts your earning potential. Although there are exceptions to the rule, if you haven’t completed your GED you probably don’t expect to be bringing in the bacon.

Motivation can be a huge factor.
Just read testimonials from one of our GED cohorts:

I started drinking and using drugs at the age of 13. Dropped out in 7th grade. Today I am coming up on a year clean. I finally decided to do something with my life.”

My reason for coming back to school was based off my life’s direction. At the time I had been working at the same job for four years and barely making enough to eat.”

I came to Summit to get my GED because I was tired of struggling, tired of feeling like a failure to my family, and most of all tired of waiting to be great in life.”

I dropped out in 7th grade. The teachers here are so helpful and supportive of my goals. I don’t know what I would’ve done without coming to Summit Academy.”

I wanted more for my children and my GED was the only thing holding me back. I tried for 18 years. Now Summit Academy has me on the right path.”

Summit is a great opportunity for all if you want to further your education. Your GED is very important. I’ve put this off for 10 years and I placed goals on myself. I would like to set a good example for my children.

What’s YOUR reason for completing your GED?
